Foreign Citizens

Foreign Citizens

Globalization, migration, and the freedom of movement across national borders are increasingly common phenomena. More and more citizens are living, studying, marrying, divorcing, and passing away in countries other than their own.

This situation often requires notaries to engage with foreign legal systems, applying international regulations or addressing issues related to the legal principle of reciprocity. As a notarial office, we are proficient in understanding and applying the principles and rules of various legal systems.

We specialize in:

Marriage agreements and property regimes for couples
Real estate transactions (particularly in Spain)
Family matters (e.g., acknowledgment of paternity)
Authentication and legalization of documents for use abroad (such as powers of attorney, passport copies, guardianship declarations) or within Spain
Companies owned by foreign nationals

Let us guide and advise you on the applicable legal provisions, as these can vary from country to country, especially within the European Union.

Additionally, we offer assistance in fulfilling tax obligations related to assets in Spain or subject to Spanish inheritance law. We can also provide comprehensive support in non-contentious matters before both local courts and Spanish embassies or consulates abroad. This includes services such as the appointment of a legal guardian, declaration of assent for expatriation, and the application for a passport for children.

If you are abroad and unable to be present in Spain for the deed of sale, we can assist you. In such cases, we will obtain your Spanish Tax Identification Number (NIE), prepare a draft Power of Attorney to be signed abroad for use in Spain, and help with the international legalization of documents (including Apostille certification).

In compliance with Spanish and European law, the notary can also act as an escrow agent, certify documents as true copies of originals, and authenticate signatures. These services are provided in accordance with the legal provisions applicable in Spain and the European Union.
