Signature and Testimony Authentication
Through signature authentication, the notary certifies that a signature belongs to a specific person. This certification can occur in various ways: the signature may be signed in the notary’s presence, the notary may already be familiar with the individual’s signature, or the signature may match an existing signature that has been previously authenticated or is clearly in compliance with the law.
The purpose of a testimony is to certify, through the appropriate notarial statement, that a photocopy is an exact replica of the original document.
